A group of primitive Charciformes. They are predatory fish living along the edges of streams lakes and within flooded forest. All are adapted to low oxygen conditions. REserva Mamiraua hoilds three species, Erythrinus erythrinus, Hoplias malabaricus and Hoploerythrinus unitaeniatus.
